Skipper Ron Vlaar insists there's a "strong belief" in camp as they begin 2013 at Swansea.
Vlaar accepts that the festive season has been anything but joyful for Villa, after heavy defeats to Chelsea, Tottenham and Wigan.
But the injured captain, who is a doubt for the Swansea clash at the Liberty Stadium, says the team has a real faith and conviction that this new year will be a good one for those of claret and blue persuasion.
He insists it's important for the players to draw inspiration from the double delight of wins at Norwich and Liverpool as they look to bounce back.
He said: "Christmas is a time for enjoyment, although it's fair to say that no-one connected with Aston Villa has had any cause for celebration in this festive season.
"But the players are certainly aware of the need to put things right as quickly as possible and we are determined to do exactly that.
"Despite the last three results, there is still a strong belief that we can climb the Barclays Premier League table and we have to be looking for as many points as possible from the match away to Swansea today.
"Right now we have to draw upon the inspiration of that 4-1 cup victory at Norwich and the magnificent 3-1 success against Liverpool at Anfield.
"It's important we put the past few results behind us as quickly as possible."
