Brad Guzan insists he has total faith in Paul Lambert's long-term vision for Villa - as he called the Tottenham loss a "bump in the road."
Guzan has spoken at length in the past of his confidence in the future of the club under Lambert and he refused to be swayed from that viewpoint post-match.
He thinks Villa need to take the loss "on the chin" and go again, starting against Wigan on Saturday.
He said: "It's not the result we wanted but we have to keep pressing forward.
"It's a bump in the road but it doesn't throw us off the track. We know what we're trying to do here.
"We're still confident as a team and as individuals and confident about where the manager and his coaching staff are taking us. We keep looking forward and moving together and sticking together.
"Coming up short in this one is frustrating, yes, but you have to find a way to keep pressing forward.
"We know it's not an easy road. Every game in this league is difficult.
"For us, we have to take it on the chin and move on. You can't dwell on it too much. You have to find a way to keep moving forward.
"We just continue to try and get better. That's what it's all about.
"We stick together. We are confident about what we're doing as a team and as a club.
"For me, as I said, this is a bump in the road. It's not a result that we or the fans want to see but at the same time we will keep moving forward."
