Chelsea v Villa podcast: Baker on partnership with Herd and Clark

Nathan Baker is the star guest on the popular podcast, brought to you on the eve of the Chelsea game.

Baker joins host Jack Woodward to chat about claret and blue matters on the audio bulletin.

The main topic of conversation is his burgeoning relationship with Chris Herd and Ciaran Clark in the heart of the Villa defence.

Boss Paul Lambert has switched to a three-man backline over the past few weeks and it's really paid dividends, the wins at Norwich and Liverpool proof of the coming together of his superb system.

Baker discusses the understanding he's formed with Herd and Clark, who came through the academy system and into the seniors with him.

He says they know each other "inside out" and are immensely comfortable in each other's company out there on the field.

He believes this close association has helped Villa over the last few games and first team action make his loan spell at Lincoln several years ago feel like a distant memory.

Baker chats about the festive programme and also gives us an insight into playing under boss Lambert.

Lambert himself discusses the next few weeks in the popular preview programme, insisting it's a "crucial time" with games coming thick and fast.

The boss also applauds the form of strike duo Christian Benteke and Andreas Weimann.

Legend Tony Morley, meanwhile, picks out the quality performances of Barry Bannan.

He loves the midfielder's vision and touch.

The former Everton fans thinks Villa's win at Liverpool will boost the team's confidence immensely, especially the young, emerging players.

Gordon Cowans also guest-stars and reflects on the U21 first half of the season as they finished fourth out of eight teams in their group.

There's a treat for you too with the AVTV audio commentary of the three goals at Anfield!

And to complete the festive programme, we also hear from Fabian Delph, Gabby Agbonlahor, Matt Lowton, Stephen Ireland and Ciaran Clark as they read a special Christmas story to the children of Acorns.

Jack Woodward also treats you to a song or two!
