Villa v Stoke podcast: Laursen on Lambert's Lions

Check out the pre-match podcast ahead of the Stoke clash, with Martin Laursen the star guest.

Laursen popped into Communications HQ to give his thoughts on Lambert's Lions ahead of the Potters encounter.

The former skipper applauds the leadership skills of current captain Ron Vlaar and assesses the young players in defence.

He says it's a very youthful backline but one he believes can flourish.

Laursen also reflects on his claret and blue career with great fondness, highlighting the win over Ajax in the UEFA Cup as his finest moment.

He also tells us about a new movie in which he features called 'Me, Myself and Martin Laursen.'

Also joining us this week is Aussie ace Brett Holman who applauds the return to action of countryman Chris Herd.

He hails the versatility of a player who can play right-back, centre-half and centre midfield.

Holman also tells us he's desperate to stay in the team and keep Villa's current unbeaten run going.

Derrick Williams excelled in the final few moments at QPR and also joins us on the podcast ahead of Stoke.

He says he is keen to stay involved in the team and is still buzzing after his debut.

He talks about the form of fellow full-back Eric Lichaj and goalkeeper Brad Guzan.

Gordon Cowans gives an insight into Williams's background and how he's come through the ranks.

Cowans says he is delighted for Derrick because he's one of the hardest workers at the club.

Cowans also reflects on the latest win - a 3-2 victory at Newcastle - and also previews meetings with Man Utd and Spurs.

Peter McParland talks to us about the club's young players - and gives a ringing endorsement.

The FA Cup legend also picks out the form of Christian Benteke.

Paul Lambert concludes the preview audio show with his analysis of in-form Ashley Westwood.
