Martin Laursen reckons Christian Benteke is the perfect figurehead for Paul Lambert's new-look Villa side.
Laursen was back at Villa Park in the role of Sky Sports pundit on Tuesday to watch the Belgian powerhouse fire Villa to a 1-0 victory over Reading.
The claret and blue faithful have been quick to take to Benteke, who has scored five goals since his deadline day arrival from Genk.
Former skipper Laursen is impressed with the 21-year-old's ability to lead the line.
"He is so important for Villa's game and the way they want to play," said Laursen.
"He works hard, he is good in the air and he can play with the ball as well.
"They can play the long ball and he can protect and get the team moving forward but he can also pass the ball well.
"He scored a really good goal against Reading. I didn't know about him before he came here.
"He is definitely a handful because he works his socks off and goes for every header."
Laursen had a knack of scoring powerful headers during his time at Villa - and he was impressed by the way Benteke converted Ashley Westwood's corner against the Royals.
He believes the new Holte End hero can mature into the complete striker.
"There is a lot of contact in England and you need to be strong because the centre-backs are strong here," added Laursen.
"He is perfect for the Barclays Premier League.
"He jumps well even though he is so big and it was a good, powerful header.
"But he has shown that before - he is a real handful and good in the air.
"He had a good chance in the first-half where he could have scored if his first touch had been better so he can always improve."
