Vlaar: All the boys aim to make amends against Arsenal

By Paul Brown

Ron Vlaar promises Villa will respond strongly against Arsenal after their Man City frustration.

Villa's dressing room was annoyed after a poor penalty decision provided the catalyst for the Etihad Stadium defeat.

But the powerful skipper says now is the time to look forward, with a tough home clash against the Gunners on the horizon this Saturday.

Arsene Wenger's men are in fine form, following their 5-2 North London derby win over Tottenham.

But Vlaar insists Villa have the players to win the match with their "quality on the ball."

He said: "Everyone was disappointed and upset but we cannot change anything and must look to the next game against Arsenal.

"Everybody is disappointed, but we just have to lift our heads up because it is only one set of three points.

"We can make amends against Arsenal and hopefully we will. Another game is coming soon, that's the great thing about football.

"We can do a lot because we have players who can give us quality on the ball."

Andreas Weimann was particularly perplexed after the Man City loss, given that it was his 'ghost' handball which prompted the second half penalty which changed the face of the game.

But Vlaar has backed the young striker to bounce back in fine style.

He added: "I am sure he will be able to forget about it now and move on.

"He is a strong character and I think it will make him even more determined to do something against Arsenal."
