Paul Lambert believes Andreas Weimann can build on his brilliant display against Manchester United - because he has an "unbelievable desire" for the game.
Lambert has been thrilled with the form of Weimann, who scored both of Villa's goals in last weekend's defeat to United.
Although the Austrian international is a central striker by trade, he has impressed on the right hand side of Lambert's four-man attack.
The Villa boss has been pleased with the efforts of his attacking players in recent weeks.
But in particular Weimann's enthusiasm and energy levels have stood out.
"The front four have all been excellent," said the manager.
"Andi's getting better. He likes to go through the middle but with his energy he shows an unbelievable desire for the game.
"If Andi was on £100,000 a week you'd get the same level of performance from him.
"He has been brilliant with his energy and enthusiasm for the game."
Another player who stood out for Lambert last week was Enda Stevens.
The Irish full-back made his first Barclays Premier League start but coped well against Red Devils winger Antonio Valencia.
"For his first game he was excellent, he was running on empty at the end and he was up against a flying machine," added Lambert.
"Enda did really fine, not just fine, that's an understatement, he was excellent, he's only 22.
"Coming from Irish football and getting thrown in to that environment hopefully bodes well."
