Paul Lambert insists Villa must live up to the expectancy levels this evening as they face Swindon Town in the fourth round of the Carling Cup.
Lambert is fully aware that Villa are favourites to go through and he wants his players to accept that fact and thrive under the pressure.
He said: "For any big team that goes and plays at a lower league side, the expectancy is always on the bigger team.
"Tonight will be no different! I've been there, I know exactly what it will be like and it will be a hard game.
"They tell me Paolo Di Canio is an extrovert character. I've never met him but he was a great player."
Lambert has previously discussed the importance of the cup competitions for Villa, insisting that progress "generates a good feeling about the club."
He told the fans forum a few months ago : "With a club this size, you cannot take anything lightly.
"I don't want to get knocked out of things. If you're in something, you may as well go and try and win it. There's no point entering the competition!
"The cups are vital. It does generate a good feeling about the club and gives you an opportunity to get to Wembley."
