Villa Ladies gaffer preview: Boss Hunt targets double delight

By Paul Brown

Villa Ladies boss Joe Hunt is gunning for double delight on Sunday as his side square off against Manchester City Ladies.

Villa Ladies were in impeccable form against Coventry City Ladies and Hunt wants two wins on the bounce to really set the season alight for the claret and blues.

Hunt has been impressed with a lot of what his team have done this term but a lack of consistency has plagued them.

He's hoping they put that right this weekend on home soil with another solid performance on top of the Sky Blues victory.

He said: "We have trained exceptionally well this week after the impressive 3-1 demolition of Coventry.

"We have won our last two league games but in between those we have lost in the League Cup.

"We need to have two good results on the bounce to help add more consistency to our league campaign.

"We're getting there slowly. The players are starting to come together as a team."

Hunt sees goal machine Katie Wilkinson as a real threat on Sunday.

Wilkinson, promoted to the seniors this season, has already bagged an impressive seven goals this term.

Hunt thinks she can definitely add to her tally this weekend.

He added: "Katie was massive for us at the weekend. Her overall play helped the team.

"It's hard being up front against two centre-backs but she always occupies them both.

"Her strength along with her technical ability gives us more options.

"She has seven goals already this season so hopefully she'll add to her tally on Sunday."

Villa have fitness concerns over Becky Anderson [thigh] while Hayley Crackle [personal] is out.
