Bent: I'm backing the gaffer to turn things around here

By Paul Brown

Darren Bent says players and fans are backing manager Paul Lambert to mastermind a surge up the Barclays Premier League table.

Bent was gutted with the defeat at Fulham but believes things will come good for Lambert's Lions in the coming weeks ahead.

Bent is looking forward to the Norwich game on Saturday and knows it will be a big occasion for Lambert, who joined Villa from Norwich this summer.

He said: "I don't think we deserved to lose the game at Craven Cottage.

"We should have at least come away with a point. But it wasn't meant to be so we have to forget about it now and move on to the next game, which is Norwich.

"It's a big match for the gaffer this weekend. You always want to do well against your former club.

"He's our manager now. All the fans and the players are backing him and I'm sure we'll turn the results around."

Bent is eager to get among the goals soon and believes it's only a matter of time before they start flying in for him.

He added: "It's all about getting in the right positions at the right time. That's all I've done throughout my career.

"Sometimes you'll run right and the ball will go left. It's just one of those things I'm sure."

Make sure you're here to back the boys against Norwich City.
