Lowton on how Villa can turn their fortunes around

By Paul Brown

Matt Lowton insists Villa's fortunes will soon turn.

Lowton was gutted after Villa went down 1-0 at Fulham, blaming the defeat on sloppy defending from the corner which led to the goal.

He's frustrated with the result because for long periods Villa both defended well and played creative, incisive football.

The right-back, who moved to centre-half in the second half, is confident that the tide will switch for Villa if they keep plugging away.

He said: "We have to keep our belief. We are not playing badly.

"We have had very tough away games. St James Park, White Hart Lane and Craven Cottage.

"We have gone to those places and played very well.

"It took a fantastic goal at Newcastle to peg us back. We should have gone ahead arguably against Tottenham and we were fantastic up until 84 minutes against Fulham.

"It's tough to take because the performances are there. We are just not getting the results.

"I thought we looked good throughout the game at Fulham. We created chances to go ahead before we conceded.

"But it's difficult accepting conceding a goal from a corner. It won't be the best corner he's ever taken by a long way. It was sloppy from us.

"We have to start turning it around and get more clean sheets.

"Up until that point we defended very well. We were winning our individual battles. We looked solid. We looked like we were going to get a point. But we switched off from a corner.

"Hopefully at home against Norwich we can get the crowd right behind us and get at them from the off. We were fantastic at home against Swansea so there's no reason why we can't replicate that."

Make sure you're here to back the boys against Norwich City.
