Delph: We want to win AND entertain our brilliant fans

By Paul Brown

Fabian Delph says the players are on a double mission every weekend - to win and to entertain!

Delph was quick to praise supporters who pay big money to follow the team home and away.

Villa's midfield marauder has been amazed by the claret and blue army since joining the club and has been thrilled with their contribution this season as they continue to roar on Lambert's Lions.

Delph is adamant the players are determined to carry through Lambert's instructions to go out there and give it everything in order to pick up as many maximum hauls as possible.

But also to do the job in the right way, playing attacking, enterprising football.

He said: "The fans are really important to Aston Villa. They're a big part of our identity as a football club.

"In all fairness they still came and turned up last season when we weren't doing well and they have again this season.

"It is nice to entertain your fans and I think we have done that in spells in games. We want to do it more and more as this campaign progresses.

"Hopefully we will carry on doing that because they have paid a lot of money to come and watch games. We want to win games but we want to entertain as well.

"The home fans are magnificent and the away fans are absolutely terrific, unbelievable really.

"In the game at Southampton we were 4-1 down but they still kept on singing regardless. They stayed until the end even though we were losing.

"All credit to them because Southampton isn't exactly a two minute trip for them. They went all that way and got right behind us."

Make sure you're here to back the boys against Norwich City.
