Gordon Cowans insists his Villa side must tighten up defensively as they prepare to face Newcastle in the Barclays U21 Premier League.
Villa's U21 side are unbeaten going into tonight's clash at Villa Park but have been involved in three high scoring draws in their opening four fixtures.
The boys in claret and blue came away from White Hart Lane with a 3-3 draw against Tottenham last week.
But the result was seen as a disappointment as Villa were ahead until the 83rd minute.
Development coach Cowans is demanding an improvement, starting with tonight's encounter with the Magpies [kick-off 7pm].
"I was disappointed with the goals we conceded," he said.
"We need to be defending better than we were last week.
"We conceded the last one from a corner. We had a corner, they broke away and scored.
"We need to be more organised and people at the back who are defending need to do better."
However, scoring goals hasn't been a problem for Villa, with Cowans' team finding the net 11 times in four matches.
Cowans has been particularly encouraged by the strike partnership of Jordan Bowery and Graham Burke.
"I think the partnership looked good between those two," he added.
"Burkey looked sharp considering he has been out and hasn't played too much football for a while.
"There is no doubt about his talent but he worked really hard as well.
"Jordan Bowery is handful. He is a big, powerful lad, a good target man and he has got pace as well."
