Tottenham full-back Kyle Walker has paid a glowing tribute to Villa for kickstarting his top-flight career.
Walker, who spent the second half of the 2010-11 season on loan at Villa Park, is set to line up against the claret and blues at White Hart Lane today.
He reflects fondly on his brief Villa spell, insisting: "It is the best move I've made."
The defender made 18 appearances for Villa, scoring two goals.
"It's not one of the best moves I've made, it is the best move," said Walker.
"The gaffer at the time, Harry Redknapp, phoned up and said I was going to Aston Villa — but I told him I wanted to stay at QPR.
"I was playing there every week, we were winning and going for the Championship title. I didn't think there could be anything better.
"But the manager said I had to go to talk to Villa. So I went up there and their manager Gerard Houllier promised me he was going to play me in every game.
"I knew I had to go and prove to Tottenham and myself that I could play week-in week-out in the Premier League.
"Villa helped me massively. They kick-started my Premier League career.
"Sheffield United, then Northampton, QPR and, of course, Tottenham have all been great for me.
"But to be given my first step into the Premier League was something else and I have got a lot to thank Villa for."
