Joe Bennett insists he'll bring a "competitive edge" to Villa.
Bennett makes the step-up to the Barclays Premier League from the Championship following his transfer window move to Villa Park.
The 22-year-old believes his exertions with Middlesbrough will stand him in good stead as he looks to forge a successful career in claret and blue.
He said: "The Championship is a hard league, an unbelievably hard league.
"People think it's easy to get out of when you're relegated but I can tell you, it's not!
"Teams play each other at the weekend and you think one side is going to win and they get battered by someone else further down the division.
"It's ups and downs in the Championship. You can go on a run but then struggle at times too. It's a very hard league.
"But it's given me toughness and a competitive edge. I have played 90 games for Middlesbrough in the Championship!
"But I am still young at 22 and still have plenty of learning to do. I want to do that.
"I have played in the Premier League before. It was against West Ham. It was an unbelievable experience playing in front of that many people, playing with great players.
"I only made one appearance and then we got relegated that season. I am just looking forward to it again and can't wait to get going.
"That's why I have come to Villa - it's a massive club with a massive fanbase and I can't wait to play for them and in front of them.
"I can't wait to play at Villa Park and try to show the fans what I can do."
