Nathan Delfouneso has been named in the England U21 squad for next month's crucial European Championship qualifiers against Azerbaijan and Norway.
England are currently top of Group 8 and wins in their final two fixtures would set up a two-leg play-off for a place at next summer's finals in Israel.
Villa striker Delfouneso has been selected as part of a four-man strike force along with Sunderland's Connor Wickham, Martyn Waghorn of Leicester City and Bolton's Team GB star Marvin Sordell.
Pearce has also called up Leicester defender Ben Marshall and Blackpool winger Thomas Ince for the first time.
The Three Lions face Azerbaijan in Baku on Thursday September 6 before taking on their Norwegian counterparts at Chesterfield's Proact Stadium on Monday September 10.
Delfouneso, who made his first start of the season in Saturday's Barclays Premier League clash against Everton, will be keen to add to his 12 England U21 appearances.
The Villa academy graduate has previous tournament experience, having been part of the England U21 squad for Euro 2011, as well as winning the Golden Boot at the European U19 Championships two years earlier.
He has been on target three times for Pearce's team, including a goal on his debut against Greece in March 2010.
