It was a double-session today for Villa as they geared up for the clash with the Portland Timbers.
Villa touched down on the west coast of the USA after trips to Philadelphia and Chicago and Paul Lambert immediately had them up and at it.
They were up early in the morning to train on grass fields before an early evening session at the Jeld-Wen Stadium, which boasts an artificial pitch.
Lambert was eager for the team to become acclimatised to the conditions of the pitch before they take on Timbers at 7.30pm US/3.30am UK.
Lambert also took part in a media session before the second session began and he briefed the media about how he's concerned about fitness not results from these preparation matches before the Barclays Premier League season begins.
He said: "You don't get anything for pre-season games, it's when it starts for real. Then I judge it.
"Games at the moment are good for fitness levels. That's what I view at the moment.
"But confidence is flowing at the minute, which is great from our point of view. I am happy with what's happened here.
"The games have been good and training has been really fine."
