It was a hectic evening as Villa descended on Union's PPL Stadium.

First up, Paul Lambert and Richard Dunne took part in a pre-match press conference in the media suite, alongside Union coach Jack Hackworth and star name Carlos Valdes.

All four answered questions from the assembled media but most attention was given to Lambert and Dunne.

The claret and blue duo chatted about the sweltering USA heat, Brad Guzan rejoining, the difficulty of the Union clash and the quality of the MLS.

Hackworth and Valdes also discussed their delight at hosting an EPL side of the prestige of Villa.

Following that, Lambert and Dunne joined the rest of the troops for open training in front of a 200-strong fanbase.

The USA-based supporters watched on awestruck as Lambert took his squad through their paces on the fields of the PPL.

When this was completed, Lambert was again in the spotlight, joining Brett Holman, Karim El Ahmadi, Charles N'Zogbia and Chris Herd for an informal Q&A with a select band of fans who had been chosen from a draw.

And their questions put the earlier journalist teasers to shame, as the assembled supporters asked a range of quality teasers.

The evening ended with a Villa Fans XI v Union Fans XI clash, which saw Ian Taylor don his boots for a rare outing.

Neville Williams was there every step of the way throughout the evening.
