Merchandising supremo John Greenfield spoke of his delight after seeing the new lime green away kit fly off the shelves in the Villa Stores.
Villa's vibrant second strip went on sale today at Villa Village and New Street and just over 2,000 shirts were sold - meaning the best figures for an away kit for six years.
Greenfield was delighted with how the day went and the plethora of fans who wore the bright top at Burton in the 2-1 win.
He said: "It was a fantastic day all round, with our great shirt sales and the win in our first pre-season match.
"We managed to sell just over two thousand and that's fantastic news. I am delighted with the uptake.
"What struck me this morning was the amount of families who came through the doors with children who were genuinely excited to get their hands on the away top. I think it was their excitement at the dazzling colour of the shirts.
"And to hear supporters singing 'We glow in the dark, we glow in the dark' was fabulous. The away end was awash with lime green.
"I think that's going to be a regular occurrence on the road this season. Fans are really getting into the spirit of 'lighting up' the away end.
"You really get the feeling the fun factor is alive and well at the club."
Greenfield also confirmed that the away goalkeeping top - orange with a black tint - will be in Villa Stores very soon.
He revealed that interest was "very high" for the kit, worn by Andy Marshall at the Pirelli Stadium.
The colourful second strip is available from Villa Village and New Street stores as well as online.
