Randy Lerner spoke of his delight at bringing in Paul Lambert as new Villa boss - revealing his enthusiasm for the task ahead has been a "very real breath of fresh air."
Lerner signed Lambert on Saturday and stressed his "leadership pedigree" was a key reason for the appointment.
The chairman believes Lambert understands Villa and will do all he can to provide success on the pitch.
He said: "To what extent that the interview process is a peek into what a working relationship would be like, we were able to see that Paul would be a good fit.
"He understands the club's history and its current potential and has been openly supportive of the board's approach.
"We feel that Paul has the energy and the leadership pedigree to energize the Villa squad and Bodymoor Heath more generally.
"Paul has done his research, he knows our ground and most importantly our base of support. It hasbeen a very real breath of fresh air hearing him plan for the summer and certainly the upcoming season."
Chief executive Paul Faulkner believes Lambert is the "young, dynamic manager" that Villa were searching for when the managerial hunt began.
He added: "We're delighted to welcome Paul here as manager of Villa.
"Paul is a dynamic, young manager who has already achieved success and we're tremendously excited as a club to have him here.
"Paul recognises the potential within the club, everything we have here is geared up towards success and achievement and we believe he is the right man to help us build on these foundations.
"Along with the chairman and the board, we will work closely together and, with the fans and the whole club behind us, we can look forward to some exciting times.
"The club has been through a challenging past couple of seasons but we are looking now to push on into a brand new season in which vibrancy and positive emotion is restored to Villa Park."
