Shay Given says colossal defender Richard Dunne is a standout star - because he never hides in matches.
Given insists Dunne is an inspiration because he plays through injuries that others would skip games for.
The Republic of Ireland No.1 also says Dunne never shirks a challenge in any game he plays for his club or his country.
"Dunney's one of the best defenders I've ever played behind," said Given, who is set to miss today's Eire game against Bosnia as a precaution after visiting a specialist in London.
"The one thing you would say about Richard is he'd stick his body and his head on the line for the club and for the cause.
"Every day and every game he's out there training and he's out there playing.
"Other players maybe wouldn't play with some of the knocks and bangs he has, but he puts himself forward every time for the team.
"He plays so many games and misses so few, if any, that there's obviously going to be the odd mistake, but he's still a top player. That's the thing I love about Dunney, no matter what, he never hides.
"In both boxes he steps up to the plate. As a goalkeeper you want somebody who is going to put their body on the line for the team."
