Charles N'Zogbia is set to see a specialist after being ruled out of Villa's defeat at Arsenal with a knee ligament injury.
The winger picked up the injury in training on Thursday and did not travel to the Emirates for the clash against Arsene Wenger's team.
Villa are also awaiting news on Alan Hutton after he was forced off towards the end of the Gunners encounter.
"The long-term diagnosis is that Charles is going to go to Paris to see a specialist," said manager Alex McLeish.
"The doctor is taking him and they will look at the knee.
"He has got a ligament strain from a clash of knees with Gary Gardner in training two days ago.
"It was a blow to lose Charles. He was in decent form and getting better with every game.
"It is a big challenge now and I will need to wrap these guys in cotton wool."
Hutton had been struggling with a heel injury going into the Arsenal game but also left the field with a calf complaint.
"He had an injection this morning because he has been struggling with his heel," McLeish added.
"I hope it is not too bad but he was actually complaining about his calf when he came off.
"We can't afford to be without any more experience players because that was down to the last 11 that you saw today.
"The rest of them were injured and we six young players on the bench."
