Delph: We're hurting - but determined to bounce back

Fabian Delph says the dressing room is hurting after their defeat to Tottenham - but insists the players have "fire in their stomachs" to come roaring back.

Delph says the players are absolutely determined to put things right with an all-action display at Swansea on Sunday.

He insists there'll be a "sharpness" in training with the players working their socks off to be ready for the weekend.

He said: "The dressing room is hurting. We all have fire in our stomachs and we're determined to bounce back. It was very disappointing for us. There's no-one more frustrated and disappointed than the boys. It's football and we have to be strong and bounce back. I see no reason why we can't do that on Sunday.

"In all fairness we were playing against a very good team in Tottenham. They excelled with their fans right behind them. They did very well. Hopefully we can do the same to them when we get them back to our place.

"We really care. We're professional footballers and we hate losing matches. Simple as that.

"For some players, a defeat can play on their mind for weeks. Me personally, if we lose or I have a bad performance, it really plays on my mind.

"But the key now is a need to focus on the next game and look to move on."

Delph paid tribute to the travelling claret and blue army who sang their hearts out for the lads throughout the game at White Hart Lane.

The marauding midfield is now hoping to give the away day droves something to cheer about on Sunday.

He added: "We appreciate how gutted the fans are when we lose. We're not only playing for each other out there, we're also playing for the fans too.

"We had a great following as always. They were brilliant, simple as that. If we can get a win for them and ourselves, we're always delighted. We're obviously disappointed we didn't do it at Tottenham.

"We'll be looking to bounce back and there'll be a real determination and sharpness in training this week as we look to put things right. We want to put things right on Sunday. That's what we aim to do."
