Tony McAndrew has urged Villa's young charges to draw on the "fantastic experience" of last month's trip to Ajax when they take on Fenerbahce in the NextGen Series this evening.
Villa are hoping to get their first points on the board in the prestigious European U19 competition when the Turkish giants arrive at Villa Park for the Group 3 clash.
Both teams have already had a taste of continental action with defeats at the home of the Amsterdam giants in their opening NextGen fixtures.
McAndrew described the tournament as a "great innovation" and insists he is excited about discovering how the players cope with different playing styles, officials and atmospheres.
He said: "It is phenomenal. It is a great innovation. We had a great experience at Ajax even though we lost 2-0.
"It was a fantastic experience. I went over a couple of weeks ago and watched Ajax play Fenerbahce and the standard is decent.
"Being involved in this competition can only help our young lads improve.
"This is why we take them on tour in pre-season. Games will be refereed differently, there will be different styles of play and things will go on that wouldn't go on in the English game.
"So it is a massive part of their education and they have got to cope with it."
Tickets for tonight's game will be available to purchase from the Trinity Road ticket kiosk from 6pm onwards.
