Bannan in the hotseat for AVTV commentary of Fenerbahce clash

Barry Bannan, fresh from his goal glee at QPR, takes to the AVTV microphone with Jack Woodward for the NextGen Series clash with Fenerbahce.

The penalty ace and man of the moment will be in the Villa Park press box tomorrow [Wednesday] to give his thoughts as the young lions face a stiff European test.

Kevin MacDonald's starlets are looking to emerge victorious from the second big test, after an epic opener against Ajax.

Bannan is the perfect man to talk you through the action after coming through the academy system, like current heroes Daniel Johnson, Graham Burke and Derrick Williams are attempting to at the moment.

Marc Albrighton was in the hotseat for the FA Youth Cup clash with Sheffield United - and Bannan joins the fabled list of co-commentators over the years including Ian Taylor, Peter McParland, Paul McGrath, Ken McNaught and Tony Morley.

Bannan is clearly relishing the opportunity.

Woodward said: "I have known Barry from a young age and I have found he always speaks intelligently about the game.

"One thing is for certain - if he talks with the same authority with which he despatched that penalty at the weekend then AVTV listeners are in for a treat."

Bannan added: "I did a Q&A with Jack earlier in the year and he asked me what made me laugh. I said his commentary!

"Naturally I was looking to wind him up. He's a top guy and I'm looking forward to joining him in the press box.

"I am really looking forward to doing something a bit different and seeing the lads in action."
