Villa in Hong Kong: Gardner, Given and McLeish on AVTV

AVTV has all the best post-match comment after the Barclays Asia Trophy clash with Chelsea.

Villa went down 2-0 in the showpiece final but there were two major highlights despite the loss.

Gary Gardner made his senior debut in claret and blue and looked polished in the central ground while Shay Given was at his superlative best throughout the contest, making a string of fine saves.

Both men spoke to AVTV on the final whistle, along with boss Alex McLeish and you watch the interviews now.

Gardner spoke of his delight at tasting first team action, despite the defeat.

The young starlet midfielder praised the players for their attitude and application throughout the trip and spoke about the lessons he has learnt from being in their presence.

He also chatted about his thanks to manager McLeish for including him on the Far East training camp.

He admitted the taste of senior action now had him hungry for more.

Given spoke about the quality on Chelsea's bench and how that had played a part in their victory.

He discussed the intense conditions in this part of the world and how that had sapped the energy of the players.

He chatted about how the heat affects goalkeepers - and how that differs from outfield players.

He ends the interview by giving his take on the signing of Charles N'Zogbia.

Manager McLeish also spoke of his delight at the N'Zogbia deal but not before giving his opinion on the Chelsea loss.

He said it was a good barometer for him as he looks to increase the fitness levels of his players in the run-up to the new season.

He also chatted about his delight at his team's 'never-say-die' attitude, right up until the end of the game.
