Steve Bruce says his players owe it to our huge away support to pick up a win at Blackburn.
Pundits are suggesting that Blackburn will be bang at it due to their relegation fight and Villa will already be on the beach for their summer holidays due to our mid-table positioning.
However, Bruce insists that view couldn’t be further from the truth, with a remarkable 6,500 claret and blue fanatics providing the added impetus needed to fight tooth and nail for three points.
He said: “We keep hearing there’s nothing at stake…if you ever needed reminding there is, it’s that we’re taking 6,500 fans to Ewood Park.
They have to win as simple as that. We are very aware of that. They are fighting for their lives.

“That is quite remarkable when you think we’re mid-table in the Championship. That’s the tonic for all of us to really grasp what this club is all about.
“Fair play to all of them making the journey up there. It’s up to us to make sure we show up and put on a performance for them.
“It will be a tough game, no doubt. They have to win, as simple as that. We are very aware of that. They are fighting for their lives.
“If we think we’re going up there and it’s going to be easy, we’re kidding ourselves.
“It’s never easy, especially when they are fighting for their lives.
“They have made a fist of it. When I look at their team, they have some real bits of quality in it.
“I expect a very difficult game. But with 6,500 Villa fans heading there, it should be a great atmosphere.”
Bruce also spoke of his positive impressions of Tony Mowbray, who took to the Ewood Park hotseat in February 2017.
He added: “Tony Mowbray is a very good football man. He’s been a very good manager for many years.
“His teams will be immaculately organised. They always try to play a certain way – I don’t think that will change.
“He’s done very well since he’s gone there – he’s breathed life into them. It will be a tough game.”
