Tyrone Mings: ‘There is a long way to go’

Tyrone Mings told VillaTV that there is still great belief in the Aston Villa dressing room as Dean Smith’s side approach the final six games of the Premier League season.

Despite a hard-fought contest on Saturday, Villa fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat at Villa Park against Wolves, with Leander Dendoncker’s second-half goal making the difference.

Mings believes that performances since the restart have deserved more.

He said: “It didn’t feel like there was a great deal between the teams and it probably wasn’t a great game if you were watching as a neutral.

“To walk away with no points is hugely frustrating.

“There is still a huge amount of belief in the team and the dressing room is disappointed and frustrated.

“We want to pick up the points that we believe our defensive displays are deserving of.”

Newly crowned Premier League champions Liverpool are up next for Villa and Mings revealed that spirits remain high ahead of the trip to Anfield on Sunday.

He added: “There is a long way to go so everybody has to believe and we have to get through this period.

“We have a great belief in the dressing room and that will carry on to the next game.

“They are worthy champions and they are an exceptionally good team, so we’ll have to be right on top our game.”
