Story in brief
Mark Delaney’s Under-23s suffered defeat in Surrey on Friday evening, as they were beaten 2-0 by Fulham at Motspur Park.
Two fantastic strikes, from Luca de la Torre and Fabio Carvalho, were the difference on the night as Villa were left frustrated.
The defeat gave Fulham their first win in seven games.
The hosts fashioned the first chance of the evening, with Sonny Hilton scooping his shot over the bar.
Villa, meanwhile, struggled to create anything clear-cut, with Jaden Philogene-Bidace trying his luck from distance but to no avail.
Mungo Bridge then played his part at the other end, cutting out an opportunity inside his own area for Jay Stansfield, after some positive play from Carvalho.
With half-time approaching, Fulham took the lead through de la Torre, who drove at the Villa defence before unleashing a shot into the top corner from distance.
Into the second half, Viljami Sinisalo was called upon to keep the deficit at one goal, when he saved well from Carvalho’s powerful drive.
However, Villa were unable to capitalise on Fulham’s missed opportunities, and were punished when the aforementioned Carvalho put in a second via the underside of the bar.
Mark Delaney’s side will look to get back on track when they travel to Portsmouth on the 18th, before returning home to face Reading on March 2nd.
