The influence of Jack Grealish on Aston Villa this season has been stunning and his latest decisive contribution took him to an impressive personal milestone.
When our No.10 drove forward and played in Matt Targett for the opener against Leicester in our Carabao Cup semi-final success, he recorded his 26th assist in a Villa shirt.
Add that to his 24 goals in claret and blue and Grealish has contributed to 50 goals in all competitions since his debut in 2014.

Big game player
Even in the early stages of his Villa career, Grealish made a habit of producing the goods at key moments.
Towards the back end of the 2014/15 campaign, he set up goals in the quarter and semi-finals of the FA Cup, including the winner in the last-four tie with Liverpool at Wembley, as well as the decisive strike against West Ham in the Premier League.
In more recent seasons, Grealish provided an assist in the play-off semi-final first leg against Middlesbrough in 2018, while he set up Conor Hourihane's equaliser at the same stage against West Brom last term.
Back in the Premier League, he’s made an impact at the Emirates Stadium and Old Trafford, while goals and assists against Norwich City, Newcastle United, Burnley and Brighton have all contributed to vital points.
“It's the best day of my life”
That day at St Andrew’s in March 2019 will live long in the memory for Grealish and every Villa fan.
It wasn’t his first goal against the Blues and Grealish boasts a strong record against all of Villa’s Midlands rivals.
He has scored twice against both Birmingham City and Wolves, while in four games against West Brom, he has recorded three assists – more than he’s managed against any other club.
Coming of age under Dean
While Grealish was seriously impressive during Villa’s run to the play-off final in 2017/18, his attacking output has taken a noticeable up-turn since Dean Smith took charge of the club.
Since October 2018, Grealish has been directly involved in 28 goals, with 15 goals and 13 assists.
Those 28 contributions have accumulated in just 50 games. In comparison, his previous 122 games produced 22 goal involvements.
Grealish has provided assists for 20 different players during his Villa career.
The most frequent beneficiary of his creative talents is Hourihane, who has scored four goals that have been assisted by Grealish, most recently against Norwich on Boxing Day.
Other players to receive multiple assists from Grealish are: Scott Sinclair, Tammy Abraham and Targett (all 2).
