At a Glance
Aston Villa are looking to end a run of four straight Premier League defeats when Norwich City come to town on Boxing Day.
Dean Smith's men are three points adrift of safety after a 3-1 defeat to Southampton last time out, but Villa could climb above the 17th place Saints if they win and results go their way on Thursday.
Norwich City come into the game on the back of a 2-1 loss against Wolves, leaving them three points behind Villa ahead of the contest.
Daniel Farke's side have won just once in nine away trips in the Premier League this season, losing six and drawing twice.
When the two sides met earlier in the season, Villa produced a superb display to run-out 5-1 winners at Carrow Road.
Dean Smith updated the media on Monday with the news that he expects Tyrone Mings to be back training with the team on Boxing Day alongside Keinan Davis.
The Villa manager also confirmed that John McGinn suffered a fractured ankle against Southampton and is expected to be out for around three months.
Jed Steer is no longer wearing a protective boot, but he remains a long-term absentee.
"Every game is a must-win. We were in the bottom three when we went to Norwich earlier in the season and we beat them 5-1.
"I’m not saying that it’s going to be 5-1 on Boxing Day because they look a very much improved team. They’ve played well in their last two games and they’ve got a lot of injured players back.
"We’re now without Tyrone Mings and John McGinn. It’s a big game, that’s for sure. I was pleased with how Villa Park stuck with us even at a 3-0 down on Saturday and it’s up to us now to perform and get them behind us."
