The Aston Villa Foundation are launching a new weight management programme in partnership with the EFL and Sport England.
Fit Villa will support anyone aged 35-65 with a BMI of 28+ to lead a healthier lifestyle through a targeted approach.
The programme will run for 12 weeks, beginning on 20th January and continuing every Monday from 6-30-8pm at Villa Park.
Sessions will consist of physical activity in the Dave Targett Suite gym and workshops based around diet, food groups, meal preparation and other relevant topics.
The session helps to meet an increasing need within the city, with hypertension, coronary heart disease and diabetes rates above the national average.
What can Fit Villa do for you?
- Improve your eating habits by reducing portion sizes and swapping fatty and sugary foods for fruit, vegetables and high fibre foods.
- Help you achieve at least 45 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity on most days of the week.
- Offers you weekly exercise sessions at the club for 12 weeks, with a personal pedometer-based walking programme that encourages more physical activity in your day-to-day life.
- Tried-and-tested behaviour change techniques will help participants become more active and improve their diet. These include regular self-monitoring of their weight and pedometer step counts and setting SMART goals to make changes that can be sustained long term.
