Marisa Ewers has been a standout performer for Aston Villa Women this season.
The German has become a fan favourite with her tenacious displays in the middle of the pitch, ensuring opposition players never feel too comfortable on the ball.
And after five wins from five league games, Ewers is happy with how she’s fitted into the Villa team following her summer switch from Birmingham City.
“They welcomed me with open arms. They’re really funny girls,” she said.
“If you’re winning, you’re always in a good mood. We know it’s still early days, so we’ve got to keep working hard.
“You can see in training that everyone is buzzing to start the next game and keep showing what we can do.”
Ewers was one of three Birmingham players to move to the claret and blue side of the city in the summer, with Shania Hayles and Emma Follis also joining.
Both have hit the ground running, netting two goals apiece and creating plenty of chances so far this season.
Ewers is thrilled with how all three have settled in as the team build up for Saturday's League Cup game against Sheffield United and next weekend’s top of the table clash against Durham.
She said: “I was the first one who signed for Villa before Emma and Shania followed. I’m happy to see them here and that we can be a part of this together.
“It’s a really busy period with big games coming up. Sheffield and Durham are really important fixtures – especially Durham at home in the league.
“We’ve been working hard and you can tell that everyone is putting lots of effort in.”
