Melissa Johnson is in the running to win the FA Women’s Championship Player of the Month award for September.
The striker is aiming for consecutive awards after scooping the August accolade for a hat-trick in Aston Villa Women’s season opening win against Sheffield United.
In two September outings, Johnson scored against Blackburn at Villa Park before netting another hat-trick as the Women demolished Crystal Palace 6-0.
Johnson is up against Katie Wilkinson, Molly Sharpe and Lauren Pickett for the award, with fans able to vote via social media.
Head Coach Gemma Davies said: “I’m delighted for Mel. The nomination is reward for her hard work and high level of performance.
“She’s led the line superbly for us and you always feel confident when she’s running through on goal.
“Mel would be the first to admit that her success has been helped by the players around her and the work ethic of the whole team.”
Johnson is the league’s leading scorer with seven in four games, and she’ll be looking to add to that tally when Villa take on Charlton this weekend.
After their visit to The Valley, the team will be back on home turf for games against Sheffield United on 19th October and Durham on 27th October.
Tickets for both fixtures are available online here.
