Matt Targett thinks the team are “not far away at all” from peak levels but stresses that they must be more ruthless.
Targett says that there’s confidence and belief in camp, particularly following the dominant first half performance at home to Burnley.
But he knows there’s room for improvement heading into the Norwich game, especially a need to kill teams off when they get the chance.
He told Club TV: “At the weekend, especially in the first half, we pinned them in and put them under loads of pressure. They didn’t have much chance in that first half.
“In that sense, we dominated the game and looked a threat going forward. On the other hand, when we’re that dominant we need to make it 2-0, 3-0 going in at half-time.
“We can take some real positives from the season so far. We haven’t got the wins that we would have wanted but we’re not far off at all.
“We need to get more ruthless and then I’m sure the results will come.”
On Norwich next up, he added: “It’ll be a tough test. They have done well at home. They beat Man City.
“Their atmosphere is bound to be good. It will be a difficult test but we’ll be going there for the three points. That’s all we’re thinking about.”
