John McGinn believes the Aston Villa performance against Burnley at the weekend was the best yet this season, despite the game ending in a draw.
We led twice in the match, had a goal ruled out by VAR and dominated possession and attempts on goal, but couldn't hold on for our second victory of the Premier League campaign.
Although keen to avoid repeating previous words, McGinn truly believes that Villa are getting there, and that results will soon follow.
He said: "We didn't manage the game properly. We're inexperienced at this level most of us, so we're learning the hard way that's for sure.
"It's painful process at the moment. You want to win no matter what level you play at. If you've just scored as well, teams know you're vulnerable.
"It's a kick in the teeth because I believe it's a game we deserved to win.
"We've said it so many times now, we have to manage the game. It doesn't have to be pretty – just boot it into the stands and regroup if necessary. We got punished again.
"I do think it was the best performance of the season, though. We pressed well, we were organised and we were a threat. Not as much in the second half, but we still got a deserved goal. We deserved a home win and didn't get it.
"We're getting to grips with each other now. Hopefully we can turn a corner now and get wins from these performances."
