Injury update: Lansbury, Chester and Kodjia

Matchday Guide: Aston Villa v Burnley The Presser: Burnley, Tom Heaton, harsh start and Wolves cup tie
Injury update: Lansbury, Chester and Kodjia

Dean Smith has provided a generally positive injury update ahead of our Burnley fixture.

He confirmed Henri Lansbury, James Chester and Jonathan Kodjia are all nearing full returns, even if this weekend comes too quickly for them all.

On Lansbury, Smith said: "He's back jogging now, but Saturday will come too soon for him.

"He should be back for next week – he'll train properly on Monday with us."

James Chester also featured for the U23s this week in his latest step towards full fitness, while Jonathan Kodjia has linked back up with the squad following a cheekbone fracture.

"Chester played against Manchester United U23s on Monday. He's trained again this week and is working his way back to full fitness.

"He'll need a few more games under his belt before being ready for us.

"As for Kodjia, he had his mask fitted on Wednesday and is back in training, looking like a superhero!"
