Tyrone Mings has paid tribute to Bjorn Engels on the eve of tonight’s West Ham clash, stressing: “He’s cool, calm – and I enjoy playing with him”.
Mings and Engels have received widespread praise for the way they have performed in the opening four Premier League encounters.
Dean Smith’s men have been unfortunate with the points return over that period but the pairing of Mings and Engels has caught the eye.
Mings has been delighted to pair up with Engels who he rates very highly.
He told Club TV: “Bjorn is a really good person to play with. He’s very easy. He’s comfortable on the ball. He goes about his business in a very cool and very calm manner.
“I probably talk more than him but he goes about his job just as efficiently. I have really enjoyed playing with him so far.
“Everyone can see the qualities he brings. I didn’t know too much about him when he turned up and I’m sure he didn’t know too much about me.
“We have had to learn on the job in terms of getting the partnership right but it feels really comfortable and I’m enjoying playing with him, for sure. I feel it’s going well.”
Mings is relishing going back into the Lion’s Den of Villa Park this evening after hailing the atmosphere created the last time he played there in the win over Everton.
He called for more of the same from our fab fanbase.
He added: “It was really good. It was one of the loudest atmospheres I’ve experienced as a player, especially when that second goal went in and those moments afterwards.
“All four stands were rocking and it was a great stadium to be in.
“Going into a game, the noise is amazing, the stadium is incredible and the fans really get behind you, which helps going on to the pitch with that backing.”
