Richard O'Kelly says that the centre-back partnership between Tyrone Mings and Björn Engels has already pleased the coaching staff.
The pair linked up for the first time in a competitive game at Spurs on Saturday, winning praise from fans and pundits alike, despite late defeat.
The duo made countless blocks and interceptions to keep Tottenham at bay for three quarters of the game, impressing their mentors on the sidelines.
O'Kelly said: "They combined really well.
"Tyrone is enthusiastic and has a lot of desire. He pushes other people and is a really good team player.
"Björn has come in and complemented him really well. He's got a real calmness about him – on and off the ball.
"He's even calm in training, but he gives 100% at the same time.
"The effort he puts in and the way he conducts himself is excellent.
"He's a real professional and everything we thought we were going to get."
