A second half onslaught saw Aston Villa Women finish their pre-season schedule with a comfortable victory. 

Phoebe Warner struck late in the first half to give Villa the lead before they stepped it up against the National League side after the break. 

Melissa Johnson netted twice while Natalie Haigh and Sophie Haywood also got in on the act to earn a morale-boosting win ahead of Sunday’s season opener.

Melissa Johnson has hit the ground running in an Aston Villa shirt. 

The striker has netted in three of four pre-season games, amounting to an impressive five goal haul. 

Villa will be hoping she can continue her fine form when the competitive action starts against Sheffield United.

Phoebe Warner has a big season ahead as she looks to break into the starting line-up on a regular basis. 

The homegrown midfielder has excellent technique and bags of potential, and she’ll be looking to make big strides this season. 

A goalscoring performance against Forest will have provided her with a timely confidence boost.

With their FA Women’s Championship opener looming, this was an important game to win.  

Villa weren’t always at their fluent best, but Head Coach Gemma Davies will be pleased with how ruthless her side were.  

Their pre-season efforts have tallied four wins and 14 goals scored, leading them nicely into Sunday’s curtain raiser.
