Story in brief
Aston Villa began their Premier League 2 campaign with a frustrating late loss to Middlesbrough.
It looked to be heading for a goalless draw as the clock ticked down to the final moments.
But Ben Liddle ensured a maximum haul for the hosts as he slotted home a stoppage-time penalty.
The visitors did have their chances, Cameron Archer forcing a good save from Zach Hemming late in the first period and Lewis Brunt firing straight at the keeper early in the second half.
Mark Delaney’s men will now look to bounce back, with another away clash, this time at Swansea City a week on Monday.
It’s another away clash coming up for our Young Lions.
They face Swansea City on Monday 19th August, with a 7pm kick-off at Landore Training Centre.
They follow that up with a home opener against Norwich City on Saturday 24th August, with a 3pm start at Villa Park.
