Friday media watch [02.08.19]: Marvellous reaction and Little verdict

The Sun: Marvelous Nakamba has completed his move to Aston Villa and promised fans: I'm marvellous! Nakamba has become Villa's 12th signing of the summer as boss Dean Smith splashed out £12million to capture him from Belgian side Club Brugge. And the 24-year-old gave an immediate hint about his confidence to succeed in an interview with the club's in-house TV channel.

BBC Sport: Aston Villa have signed Zimbabwe international midfielder Marvelous Nakamba for an undisclosed fee - their 12th signing of the summer. Nakamba, 25, is the second player to join from Belgian side Club Bruges this summer following £22m forward Wesley. The deal takes Villa's summer spending past £120m as they prepare for a first season back in the Premier League.

Daily Mail: Aston Villa have completed the £12million signing of Marvelous Nakamba from Club Brugge. The midfielder becomes the newly-promoted club's 12th new addition of the summer and takes their summer spending close to the £130m mark. Nakamba, who was keen to push his move through to Villa after learning of their interest last month, has vowed to live up to his unusual first name.

Marvelous7Sky Sports: Aston Villa remain active in this summer's transfer market and want to further strengthen their squad, despite spending more than £140m on 12 new signings already, Sky Sports News understands. Sky Sports News has been told Dean Smith is keen to add two more players to his squad before the window closes at 5pm next Thursday.

Express & Star: Villa are targeting a striker as their 13th summer signing after sealing deals for Tom Heaton and Marvelous Nakamba. Goalkeeper Heaton sealed his £8million switch from Burnley yesterday morning, with the arrival of midfielder Nakamba in an £11million deal from Club Brugge being confirmed only hours later. His signing took Villa’s spending since promotion past the £130million mark but boss Dean Smith remains eager to add another forward, with Brentford’s Neal Maupay a long-term target.

HeatonMediaDaily Star: Aston Villa’s new signing Tom Heaton has revealed that a chat with club legend Nigel Spink may have persuaded him to make the move from Burnley. Aston Villa confirmed the £8m signing of Heaton on Thursday, meaning they have now brought in twelve new players this summer. That is because they also confirmed the £11m capture of Club Brugge midfielder Marvelous Nakamba on the same day. But 33-year-old Heaton may just be the most important transfer out of them all for Villa boss Dean Smith, who had been on the hunt for a new goalkeeper for some time.

BBC Sport: Preston North End signed Aston Villa's Andre Green on a season-long loan. The winger played 22 times for Villa last term helping them defeat Derby win in the Championship play-off final. Green, 21, who has played for England's teams from Under 16 to Under 20, scored five goals while on loan at Portsmouth in the first half of last season.

LittleMainExpress & Star: Brian Little can claim to have seen most things during an association with Villa which now stretches back half a century. So when the legendary former player and manager, who now acts as an advisor to the board, draws comparisons between the current mood around B6 and the 1970s, which saw the club climb from the Third Division and eventually conquer Europe, it is not a view given lightly.
