Aston Villa Women have today announced the release of five players.
Alison Hall, Ashlee Brown, Hayley Crackle, Hollie Gibson and Tanisha Smith have all been informed they are not part of Head Coach Gemma Davies’ plans for the upcoming season.
Davies paid tribute to their efforts in claret and blue as she continues reshaping the squad ahead of the start of the FA Women’s Championship on 18 August.
She said: “Letting players go, particularly ones who’ve made such a positive impact on the club, is never easy at any stage of the season.
“All five players have given their all during their time at Aston Villa and they leave with our best wishes for the future.”
Hall, Gibson, Brown and Smith made significant contributions last season in helping the club finish sixth in the league and in reaching the FA Cup quarter finals.
Crackle endured a frustrating campaign as she was restricted to three appearances as she battled against a long-term injury.
But the defender leaves Villa fans with many fond memories having made 69 appearances for the club after coming through the youth ranks.
Crackle joined the club at the age of nine before making her first team debut in the 2012/13 season.
Aston Villa Women would like to place on record their thanks to all five players and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
