Dean Smith says he has signed a quality centre-back in Björn Engels – and someone who can provide a goal threat too.
Engels joined us here on our USA Tour after putting pen to paper on a claret and blue deal.
And Smith was thrilled to get his man as he extolled his defensive and attacking qualities.
He told Club TV: “I am very pleased.
“Björn is one I’ve kept an eye on for probably 18 months. He first came to my attention when I was Head Coach at Brentford. He moved on to Reims from Olympiacos and I’ve kept an eye on his career.
“He’s a player I really like. He can adapt well. He’s a great age. His potential is that he will get better and develop – he has a hunger to develop too.
“He’s calm and assured on the ball. He reads the game really well.
“But another thing that attracted me to him was that he scores goals. It’s something we want to target in the Premier League – to become a really good set-piece team because it can win you games.
“He scores goals. He scores from set-pieces. He’s good in both boxes.”
