Dean Smith has described our start to the Premier League season away at Tottenham Hotspur as 'mouthwatering'.
We'll face Spurs at their new stadium for the first time on Saturday 10th August in front of the watching world, with the game being screened live globally at 5.30pm.
On the calendar, Smith says he's yet to fully digest it properly and won't look too far ahead, while he's also looking to 'get that atmosphere' back to its best and is relishing Boxing Day at Villa Park.
On Tottenham first up, he said: "My first thought was that it was a mouthwatering, exciting start.
"Albeit there was a little bit of trepidation too – the Champions League finalists from last season.
"It's a place I've never been to and that Aston Villa fans have never been to.
"It was to be expected. We've given ourselves the opportunity to play these games following on from what we achieved.
"We'll try and be as competitive as we can.
"It probably feels more real now than at any point in the last few weeks.
"I've had a bit of time away but it's straight back to it now.
"I was in the building yesterday and today doing work. Myself, Jesus [Garcia Pitarch] and Christian [Purslow] have been in constant contact.
"A lot of work has been done. There's still lots to do. The fixtures bring it from imagination to reality a little bit more.
"We're really looking forward to it."
