Jota says he is relishing linking back up with Dean Smith in the Premier League next season.
The 27-year old was confirmed as our first incoming of the summer transfer window on Wednesday.
He previously played under Smith across three seasons at Brentford – also working with our Sporting Director Jesus Garcia Pitarch during his days in his native Spain.
Jota admits reuniting with the Head Coach was a big part of his attraction to Aston Villa, and hopes the pair can reproduce the good times.
He said: "I know he likes me and I know how he likes to play – with plenty of the ball and with quality.
"I'm happy to be working with him again. We had good times at Brentford and hopefully there's another good year ahead with him and his staff.
"Becoming a Premier League player was important for me and something I've been looking for. This is one of the biggest clubs in England.
"I look forward to coming back and meeting with my new team-mates and the staff and get ready for the Premier League. I can't wait for the start of next season."
Dean Smith returned the compliment, speaking of the Spaniard's natural talent.
He added: "I worked with Jota at Brentford. He’s a superb, talented player and Birmingham signed him as their record transfer.
"I’m really happy to have him back working with us. He’s got great ability, great balance and a great eye for both goals and assists.”
