Conor Hourihane insists “we’re desperate to go one better” as Aston Villa made it through to the Play-Off Final at Wembley.
Hourihane was proud as the team saw off a tough West Brom outfit to reach the showpiece on Monday 27th May.
The midfielder, who was part of the squad that lost to Fulham last time out, wants to feel elation and ecstasy rather than disappointment and despair as he looks to reach the Premier League with the claret and blues.
We had heartbreak last time. We’re desperate to go one better.
He told Club TV: “We’ve made it to the Final. Now it’s more of the same. More hard work!
“We will have a few days off. But we have to get prepared and get right for the Final.
“We had heartbreak last time. We’re desperate to go one better.”
On the Albion second leg clash, he added: “We played some good stuff but we just couldn’t break them down.
“They put on a good performance, especially in the first half and they were a threat with long throws and set-pieces but, on the whole, we stood up to it.
“The sending off changed it. We got on the ball more but we just couldn’t find the break. But thankfully we got over the line on penalties.”
