Match pack: Aston Villa v Bristol City

Season tickets 2019/20: 24 hours to go! Ticket alert: Norwich City
Match pack: Aston Villa v Bristol City

Game details

Game: Aston Villa v Bristol City
Date: Saturday 13th April 2019
Competition: Sky Bet Championship
Venue: Villa Park
Kick-off: 3pm

At a glance

Aston Villa can make it eight wins in a row for the first time since 1975 this afternoon, when Bristol City come to B6.

It's a massive clash in the race for the Play-Off places, and victory for the claret and blues would put them ahead of City regardless of the outcome of their game in hand.

We already sit five points clear of seventh-placed Middlesbrough, and six ahead of Derby County and Hull City below them.

Our astonishing run has formed a buzz around the club in recent weeks, highlighted by another sell-out crowd at Villa Park today.

Team news

Kortney Hause will be assessed this morning as Head Coach Dean Smith gives him every chance to take part.

However, the gaffer admitted the centre-half would 'struggle' to be fit in time.

Mile Jedinak is therefore likely to start alongside Axel Tuanzebe, following a strong showing against Rotherham United in midweek.

Jonathan Kodjia is also pushing for a start after his sublime second-half cameo on Wednesday, with Smith considering a switch in formation to accommodate him.

In other news, Alan Hutton is available again after a solid stint of training with the team.

The Boss

Dean Smith

"I went to watch them Tuesday and they were comfortable after 20 minutes and didn't have to work too hard for their goals.

"They've put in some great performances at Middlesbrough and Sheffield United, to get wins there.

"It'll be a tough game for us. They've got good players and that always makes for a difficult game.

"I've got quite a good record against Bristol City, so hopefully I can take that into today.

"It's crucial for us. Villa Park is a special place when it's full to the rafters, like it will be this weekend.

"We're hard to beat there and are starting to win a lot of matches there.

"We want that to continue and to give fans something to shout about."
