Jed Steer says he would relish the chance to start in his first Second City Derby on Sunday.
The goalkeeper has only ever made the bench in this fixture previously, but is in line to play at St Andew's having had the jersey in the last two matches – conceding just one goal.
And he insists the magnitude of the game and the tasty atmosphere that awaits the Aston Villa players is something he is desperate to experience.
He said: "I'd love to play.
"I've started the last couple of games and have really enjoyed that. I want to play as much as I can now.
"I've sat on the bench in this derby before, but now I really want to play in one.
"I remember seeing this fixture on television over the years. You still see the highlights all the time, too.
"I'm well aware of its history. Fingers crossed I get selected on Sunday now.
"I'd relish playing in an atmosphere like that. Going to their place will be hostile and it's one we're all looking forward to.
"We know our fans will be on song and really giving it some, too. We can't wait.
"Picking up some points in a big week now will really drive us forward. We fancy ourselves against anyone."
