Ian Ross tribute

Our players will wear black armbands at the match against Brentford this week to honour our former captain Ian Ross.

Ian died this past week at the age of 72.

His contribution in the claret and blue cannot be underestimated as he skippered the team to the 1975 League Cup and promotion back to the First Division that same season.

He was also part of the squad which won the Third Division title in 1972 – and he eventually went on to make 205 games in claret and blue, scoring three goals.

Villa Park’s flags are at half-mast today and his face adorns our Giant Screen as a mark of respect.

RIP Ian.
